What's Lost in Jersey Drone News and the Supreme Court Gives TikTok a Chance
The Know... Now You're In It
While the media is fixated on drone origins, the DHS, FBI, DOD, and FAA are using the noise to sway public opinion and urge Congress to pass controversial bills. In a joint statement on Monday they said there was nothing “anomalous” and:
We urge Congress to enact counter-UAS legislation when it reconvenes that would extend and expand existing counter-drone authorities to identify and mitigate any threat that may emerge.
It’s an odd sentence to include in a statement assuring the public there is no threat. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) blocked one of those bills from being rushed through Wednesday.
Another bill is well known in the drone pilot community because it blacklists DJI products. The fear among drone pilots is that DJI drones will be grounded they will be forced to abandon existing fleets and buy white-listed drones.
